This incredible 1 Oz Silver coin is the third release in the “Armageddon” series, dedicated to one of the most feared and scary personification – the Grim Reaper. The coin is plated in Black Ruthenium, has a wonderful coloration and comes in a themed case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Strictly limited mintage to only 400 pieces worldwide.
Grim Reaper (Death)
Death, also known as the Grim Reaper, is frequently imagined as a personified force, due to its prominent place in human culture. In some mythologies, the Grim Reaper causes the victim’s death by coming to collect them. In turn, people in some stories try to hold on to life by avoiding Death’s visit, or by fending Death off with bribery or tricks. Other beliefs hold that the Spectre of Death is only a psychopomp, serving to sever the last ties between the soul and the body, and to guide the deceased to the afterlife, without having any control over when or how the victim dies. Death is most often personified in male form, although in certain cultures Death is perceived as female (for instance, Marzanna in Slavic mythology).
The reverse of the coin features the incredible coloured image of a Grim Reaper with an hourglass over a flaming background. All around the reverse, the inscriptions: “CANADA” – the issuing country, “9999” – the fineness of the Silver, “FINE SILVER”, “1 OZ” – the weight of the coin and “ARGENT PUR”. The obverse of the coin features an image of an apocalyptic world over the image of the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ARMAGEDDON II” – the name of the series, “5 DOLLARS” – the face value and “2018” – the year of issue.
