Description
This breathtaking black coin is the newest issue of the Golden Enigma Edition and features Britannia, a female figure that personifies the island of Great Britain. Struck from 1 oz silver .999 BU, the coin is a unique combination of black and gold: it’s plated with black ruthenium and 24K gold! The worldwide mintage is limited to 5 000 pieces.
The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of this black coin. Elizabeth II, D.G. (reigning by the grace of God), REG FID DEF (defender of the faith) and 2 pounds are also inscribed.
To achieve the unusual black surface of the coin, it was coated with silver-gray ruthenium, one of the platinum metals that looks like platinum but is rarer. The reverse features a relief Britannia image, the feminine embodiment of Great Britain and is depicted in a classical toga and a war helmet as she stands vigilantly poised for battle upon the shores of her country. In one hand, she wields a trident in honor of Britain’s naval prowess. In the other hand, she holds an olive branch and a round shield bearing the union jack. The legends on the reverse include the name of the issuing country, weight and metal fineness – 1 oz silver 999. Housed in a black luxury box with a numbered CoA inside, the Golden Enigma 2015 – Britannia coin is a desirable collector’s item!
