Description
This stunning enameled 1 Kilogram .999 silver coin is a tribute to the historic RMS Titanic. A designated World Heritage Coin, it is an extremely low mintage collectors showpiece. The obverse of the coin bears the National Arms of the Republic of Benin and the face value of 10,000 Francs. The reverse features the image of the Titanic some time after the ship went down. The wreck of the RMS Titanic is located about 370 miles (600 km) south-southeast of the coast of Newfoundland, lying at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3,800m). The wreckage is too fragile to be recovered because it’s condition has deteriorated in the century is has spent on the sea bottom. This coin will be issued as a World Heritage collectible. Titanic was a British registered four funneled ocean liner built for the transatlantic passenger and mail service between Southampton and New York. The disaster happened on the night of 14 April 1912 when, during her maiden voyage, Titanic hit an iceberg and went to the bottom two hours and forty minutes later, early on 15 April 1912.
