The Tiffany Art 2017, beautiful Silver coin, 1 Kg with an Antique Finish quality, is dedicated to Lady Chapel and Chapter House of Wells Cathedral, built around 1310. The coin is decorated with a blue glass pane according to the Tiffany glass tradition. The impressive details are created with a new technique, Smart-minting. Limited mintage to only 99 pcs worldwide!

The coin’s reverse features a section of the Wells Cathedral. On the bottom of the reverse, the inscriptions: “WELLS CATHEDRAL” – the name of the coin and “TIFFANY ART 2017” – the name of the glass-art style and the issue year. The coin’s obverse features the Palau Coat of Arms and the inscription: “50 DOLLARS” – the face value. Both sides have a Tiffany blue glass window.

Wells Cathedral

Wells is the first major English cathedral built entirely in the Gothic style. The facade stretches out laterally like a glorious decorative screen. Originally its niches and buttresses held richly painted and gilded stone figures. The towers are placed beyond the sides of the church, emphasizing the horizontal extensions of the facade. The entrance is a single inconspicuous doorway. The interior of Wells with its horizontal continuity epitomises the Early English style. Arcades move down the nave like the superimposed arcades of a Roman aqueduct. This makes the nave appear much longer that it actually is. Added later were the dramatic springer arches spanning the nave in the distance.

This antique finish Silver coin is only the fourth kilo coin in the Tiffany Art Series and is highlighted by a glass pane which is a Tiffany glass tradition. An artistic masterpiece with a mintage of only 99 Silver coins.
