Tuvalu Goddesses of Olympus. In ancient Greek mythology, Aphrodite was worshipped as the goddess of love, pleasure and beauty, exciting passion in the hearts of gods and men.

Each coin is struck from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality to a rimless format.

The reverse of the coin depicts Aphrodite sitting on the beach at Aphrodite’s Rock surrounded by scallop shells, holding a mirror in her left hand, with a dove perched on her right hand. She is accompanied by a swan and three dolphins, with the ocean and clouds in the background. The design also includes the inscription APHRODITE, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format and features an antique finish.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date, and the monetary denomination, are shown on the coin’s obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,000 of the Goddesses of Olympus – Aphrodite 2015 2oz Silver High Relief Coin.

The coin is housed in a prestigious round wooden display case, with stunning detail on its lid and packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Many of the Greek Gods believed that Aphrodite’s incredible beauty would spark a war among the gods as they battled for her affections. As a result, Zeus married Aphrodite off to Hephaestus who wasn’t considered a threat because of his ugliness and deformity. Despite being married, Aphrodite had many lovers, both gods and men, including her brother Ares, the God of War, Anchises, the Trojan shepherd, and Adonis, the God of Beauty and Desire.
